On June 24th and 25th 2007 NPI conducted a
thorough investigation of the beautiful US Hotel B&B in
Nevada City, California at the request of the proprietor
Katie Bennett. The Hotel was built in 1853 and is a
California State Historical Landmark. This was a little
different than other investigations in the past as we
soon discovered. Katie did not ask us to help her rid
the spirits that reside at her beautiful hotel. In fact
Katie loves her spirits at the B&B and wanted us to
come in to document that in fact they are there and
active. We enjoyed a little bit of fame as we found
ourselves in the local paper, The Union and TV Fox40
out of Sacramento, California came out to do an
interview with NPI and Katie Bennett.
The US Hotel has quite an amazing history in that it
has been everything from a brothel in the California
gold rush era that lasted well into the 1920's and 30's.
It was a favorite hang out for many a millionaire and
business tycoons of the times and is even said to have
been home to a very young President Hoover. It was
abandoned for many years and in the 1970's was
re-opened as a methadone rehab center for young
American service personal coming back from the war
in Viet Nam who had found themselves hooked on
drugs. After changing hands many times in the last 30
years the US Hotel has come back full circle to the
beautiful hotel it once was.
But a long with the amazing history came a lot of
death and heart break. Murders, shootings, suicide
have all played a part in making what the US Hotel
B&B is today, very active in ghosts and spirits. Check
