My name is Michael Carnahan. I was born in Hayward,
California and spent my childhood and teen years
moving around various cities within the San Francisco
Bay Area. I currently live in Fremont, California and
can't really complain. Life is good. I have to say I've
never had a strong interest in the paranormal, but
through my spiritual path as a Buddhist I have always
felt the feeling of ‘something else’ around me.
The only paranormal experience I can recall was when I
was a toddler. Lying in my bed sound asleep late one
night, I woke up to a very tall figure standing in my
bedroom doorway who I though to be my stepfather,
being as he was the tallest person I knew. Now, I can't
recall whether or not I heard him say or if I just assumed
he was allowing/telling me to watch TV in the living
room. Sometime later my mother came into the room to
find me watching the static on the TV, which I can only
imagine looked like the scene from the movie
‘Poltergeist‘. I explained to her that my stepfather said it
was ‘OK‘. She replied that he hadn't been up all night.
Over the years, I never thought much about the incident
until recently. Whether it was just a child's imagination,
the confusion of my mother, or a real paranormal
experience, it will remain a mystery
I am excited about joining NPI and am doing so with a
very scientific mind set. I was not born with a passion
for the paranormal, but I now have strong growing
interest. I am very skeptic of paranormal claims without
proof. I’m a firm believer of weeding through the
evidence and presenting the truth. I believe the skills I
bring to NPI will open a lot of doors for them and others
willing to open up to the possibilities of the unknown.
